Urbanistic competition. The solved area represents the innermost centre of the town of Jesenice today. It is a triangular village square at the intersection of two roads. Despite many negative aspects, the place has retained its original urban footprint.
We have therefore proposed a solution where we maintain the current urban structure in maximum form. The entire composition of the current space is clearly dominated by the historic building of the so-called horse-drawn transport station. Through a sensitive reconstruction and location in the middle of the square (a kind of “Špalíček”), the building can bring a much-needed historical context to the place and remind us of the genius loci. Around Špalíček we are creating a new square with a reasonable scale and size, a square with important city public functions.
