Czech Statistical Office

The project of the Czech Statistical Office and the story of its origins as one building that we did and where the renovated second building stands at the moment. The origin of the first project is very interesting because it was created after the floods in 2002, when the Statistical Office in Karlín was washed away. The government launched a fast-track tender for the design. The winner was a well-known developer who was to build, design and commission a new building for the CSU. The only bidder was Skanska, and we worked with Skanska on many residential projects at the time. The then director of the development division approached us for cooperation. My colleague and I and my partner, Mr. Haman, went to see him and we started to create the first schematics of the new building at Na Padesátém, Prague 10 in the new headquarters. This building was very interesting for us because it was built in a historically short period of less than nine months. It was put into operation in November 2003.
